Laura and Mike come from Ireland and they tied the knot in a sunny day on the charming Garda Island, a private island on Lake Garda. To follow, a stylish celebrations with pretty vintage decor at the ancient loggia of the Venetian neo-Gothic style Villa with a breathtaking view on the lake; A day filled with family, friends, tributes, love and meaning, a real reflection of the couple and their love in a extraordinary wedding venue, rich in surprising architectonic details, local and exotic plants, rare essences and unique flowers.
Arriving by water this place enchant you with its splendor. On gorgeous Garda Island the terraces and Italian gardens slope down to the lake. All around the vegetation is luxuriant and intact.
So if you are a vintage bride who loves the iconic images of the 1950s and dreams a destination wedding in Italy, take a look at this beautifully refined 1950s wedding.
What I adore most about this wedding is that the couple look totally in love and joyful, every image by Morlotti Studioglowing with newlywed bliss and cheerfulness.
The bride’s outfit
Laura vintage wedding dress was the detail that drove all. We were enthusiastic about her choice of a vintage 50’s wedding dress and I think her pretty short wedding veil finished off her look perfectly!
Laura: “When we initially started planning the wedding Angela sent me idea boards on Pinterest with plenty of different themes, ideas and wedding styles. Straight away I went with a vintage theme as my dress was a vintage 1950s dress. I have always loved 1950s fashion and wear rockabilly style dresses all the time so I knew I would be most comfortable in this style of dress. I also love antique and vintage styles from this era. Angela used this era as inspiration for our wedding and incorporated vintage books, vintage teacups for the tables, vintage pictures and vintage looking table names… it was all amazing and all of our guests spoke about the amount of lovely details in our wedding on Garda Island”.
Laura chose a tea-length wedding gown, my favourite for a 50s style wedding! A tea-length gown is generally designed to fall just below the knee or mid-shin, with a full skirt, nipped waist and fitted bodice. This makes them perfect for brides who want a retro 1950s feel to their look, just pair with a petticoat, birdcage or short veil and heels and you’re away!
Laura ‘s friend created a perfect retro hairstyle and our professional make-up artist completed the look with an actualized vintage makeup and the perfect red lipstick. The makeup needed to be in 50s feel, very clean pastel shades with that characteristic red lipstick that would make the lips really stand out. This classy, elegant style is easy to replicate but it’s all in the details!
The groom’s outfit
Mike looked perfectly in tune in his dark grey morning suit and greased back hair. He completed his look with a waistcoat in the same colour, a vintage pocket watch and a fun colourful patterned bow tie which declared the joking and playful mood of the wedding. His best man wore the same, except he had light grey bow tie.
Laura: “My guests went by boat to Isola del Garda and my bridesmaids and I went by speedboat…what an amazing experience! I thought I had a very good idea of what everything was going to look like, until I reached the island. Everything was more breathtaking than I could have imagined… the flowers, the vintage books and teacups, the ceremony area… each thing was more beautiful and detailed than the next! I could not believe the amount of hard work and dedication that Angela and Style A Wedding team had invested in our special day. Walking up the aisle in this fabulous setting with vintage chairs, beautiful roses and a flower arch to the sound of the string quartet was one of the most amazing moments in my life”.
In this wedding on Garda Island the ceremony took place on a terrace with a breathtaking view of the lake at the end of the gorgeous garden. Walking next to rose bushes and giant agaves, lemon trees and a wonderful glass greenhouse from the early 1900s, the bride reached the ceremony area, preceded by her bridesmaids in tiffany colour dresses.
To emphasize the vintage style also at the ceremony we chose rattan chairs and a beautiful iron structure decorated with flowers to frame the couple; this singular arc, specifically commissioned to local artisans, created the illusion of a graceful and elegant an plein air church. A vintage teacup with moss and rosebuds it seemed to us the perfect way to hold the wedding rings!
After an aperitif in the beautiful Italian gardens the wedding dinner was served in the enchanting loggia overlooking the lake.
The frame was already beautiful but Style a Wedding team all worked to put a personal stamp on Laura and Mike wedding day. To decorate the wedding venue we used vintage cups, laces, original vintage photo camera and photographs, old books, and a vintage suitcase full of baby’s breath, the floral theme that linked the whole floral decoration, with vintage postcards of the places visited by Laura and Mike in Italy to name the wedding reception tables.
A lot of lanterns guided the guests through the lush gardens to the old small pier, where in a dream atmosphere Laura and Mike cut the cake and danced until late with their friends.
For Laura and Mike we wanted to realize a wedding where people could feel comfortable and could be themselves enjoying the beauty of lake Garda. We whished to give them a beautiful and relaxing day but that could show off their personalities and tastes too. A wedding on Garda Island is amazing also just with an intimate wedding ceremony and aperitif, but since it is a private island I think it is lovely to have the whole reception so to exclusively enjoy this gorgeous venue with all your guests.
Laura: “Everybody kept commenting on the lead up to the wedding about how relaxed and calm we were. We were so relaxed and so calm because we knew that we didn’t need to worry because Angela and Style A Wedding Team had everything sorted. Since I began planning the wedding with Angela I changed my mind about venues, flowers, colours etc plenty of times but she was always there to offer alternative choices, she was amazing!”
