Same sex couples that want to get married in Italy have to produce some paperwork and it could be very challenging in terms of time-consuming and strategy; Since this is a pretty new process in Italy, there are some differences from town to town that concern the documents required.
There’s a compulsory period of at least 15 days between the first appointment at the town hall, in which the date is set, and the actual celebration. This period is needed to analyse all the paperwork and some Town Halls could ask for more time. It’s important that during the first meeting the couple already has the basic documents: Certificate of No Impediment and Statutory Declaration. The town hall could ask for further documents on the base of the couple Nationality.
